Suntory Hakushu comes from the Hakushu distillery, which was built on Mount Kaikomagatake in 1973. This makes it one of the highest distilleries in the world. The term Hakushu translates as white sandbanks and is due to the water used. The distillery's water comes from a nearby mountain spring. The streambed of this spring is full of white stones, this filtration makes the water so special.

Kommentar: komplex, samtige Kühle im Übergang süsslich nach grünem Apfel zum Ende hin mehr und mehr Eiche. Mein erster Japaner und direkt ein Hit. Die Preise sind natürlich absurd aber so ist der Markt.

Eindrücke:
Imposant. Elegant. Eindrucksvoll. Apfel. Eiche. Kräftig. Zielstrebig. Tabak. Vanille. Bekömmlich. Genuss. Kostspielig. Rar. Ausgewogen.

Unterm Strich:
Gar nicht so leicht zu bewerten. Ich habe damals schlanke 89 Euro für die Flasche bezahlt und ganz ehrlich, dafür hat sie die absolut volle Punktzahl verdient. Ein überraschend kräftiger Japaner (für den Alkoholgehalt), der mich im ersten Moment immer an einen saftigen Apfel erinnert und dann aber mit vielen anderen Geschmackseindrücken punktet. Absolut empfehlenswert und sehr lecker. Für den aktuellen Preis über 150 Euro fällt die Empfehlung weitaus geringer aus. Ich bewerte den Whisky jetzt mit der vollen Punktzahl, er ist wirklich gut, aber kaufen werde ich ihn bei dem Preis dennoch kein zweites Mal.
