The name Omar actually comes from Gaelic and means something like amber. However, the Omar Single Malt comes from Taiwan. Single Malt has been produced at the Nantou distillery since 2008.

    Aroma: Leichte und dezente Würze. Man riecht Mais und typischen Bourbon-Geruch. Anklänge von Honig und deutlich Vanille. Mit Wasser kommt die "Klebstoffnote" viel deutlicher hervor, der Honig und die Vanille treten in den Hintergrund und der maisartige Charakter kommt deutlicher zum Vorschein.

    Geschmack: Mild, sehr wenig Würze, erst ein wenig malzig übergehend zu "Mais-Bourbon". Nimmt den ganzen Mund in Beschlag. Brennt nicht mit 46%. Mit zu viel Wasser ist alles eher schwächer, aber mit sechs Tropfen (auf 20 ml) wird er supersüß.

    Abgang: Der ganze Geschmack bleibt.

    Kommentar: Zwar jung aber einige gute Punkte. Bourbon aber alles andere als amerikanisch!
