Product description
Only a few casks were selected for the Handcrafted Edition. This is one of the few Tennessee whiskies to carry an age statement. It was matured for 8 years and filtered through charcoal to ensure that the overall result is particularly smooth in flavour. The unique spelling of "whisky" without an "e" stems from the desire to reinterpret American whiskey and to elevate the flavour experience to a level that can compete with the best Scotch whiskies in the world. To this day, George Dickel continues this tradition in order to give the Cascade Hollow Distillery's bottlings new perspectives.

    Kommentar: Die Whiskys von George Dickel sind ja generell etwas speziell, indem sie nicht so knorrig sind wie viele Bourbons, sondern vergleichsweise mild. Leider, aber dafür kann whisky.de nichts, sind die Dickels hier weitaus teurer als in Amerika, ich habe dort einmal die Destillerie in Tennessee besucht und einen Barrel Select für 30 Dollar oder so mitgenommen. Was ich auch diesem Dickel "Bourbon" hoch anrechne, ist dieser No-Nonsense-Geschmack, bei dem nicht herumgetrickst wird. Es ist eben ein Tennessee-Whisky, etwas milder als viele Kentucky-Bourbons, aber durch und durch ehrlich (und übrigens in einer komplett anderen Liga als der Jack Daniel's, der nur zum Mixen taugt). Auf der Zunge ist er dezent-süß ledrig, völlig geschlossen, ohne Neigung, irgendwie schreiend gefallen zu wollen. Dies ist für mich einer der Whiskys, die ich gerne dauerhaft zu Hause habe, nichts für Leute allerdings, die es effektvoll haben wollen.
