In contrast to the younger standard bottlings, this 18-year-old Elijah Craig Straight Bourbon matured in a single hand-picked barrel. The single barrel Bourbon from the Heaven Hill Distillery has a strong, complex character due to its maturation in a charred oak barrel and is one of the oldest and most exclusive whiskeys from Kentucky.

In 1935 the Old Heavenhill Springs was founded by a group of investors and the Shapira brothers.     Aroma: Mit kandiszuckerüberzogene Früchte (z. B. Äpfel), Vanillesoße, Karamelldrops, Konvertüre, Marmeladen, Schokolinsen, usw.
    Insgesamt sanft, harmonisch und komplex.

    Geschmack: Intensiv, mächtig und virtuos: Walnüße mit Zuckerglasur, Vanille-Karamell-Pudding, Krokant, warme geschmolzene Eiscreme, usw.

    Abgang: Lang. Vanille, Karamell und die lange Eiche dümpeln im Gaumen vor sich hin. Natürlich schön langsam.

    Kommentar: Ohnegleichen! Ein perfekter Bourbon! Die 18 Jahre sind ein himmlisch gutes Geschmackserlebnis! Über die Preis/Leistung kann man streiten! Ich bin der Meinung das es sich lohnt so einen alten Single Bourbon mal zu probieren! Ganz weit oben im Bourbon-Olymp! (In meinen Top 3!)

    Kommentar: Fantastischer Whiskey!
    Im Aroma verspüre ich eine deutliche Süße, welche ich nicht zuordnen kann. Ich rede mir ein, dass ich eine Mischung aus Vanille, Karamell und Honig zugleich rieche. Dahinter dann eine sehr angenehme Eichenkomponente, welche meiner Meinung nach, trotz des hohen Alters, recht zurückhaltend ist.
    Im Geschmack ist er intensiv, gleichzeitig aber auch sehr weich auf der Zunge liegend. Wieder finde ich hier diese undefinierte, aber tolle Süße, welche beim Schlucken von einem Zitronenbrausebonbon-Geschmack abgelöst wird.
    Im Abgang macht sich dann eine langanhaltende und keineswegs bittere Eiche bemerkbar.

    Die undefinierbare Süße zeugt vermutlich von meiner nicht vorhandenen Erfahrung, haha.

    Kommentar: Holzmäßig leider schon etwas drüber, wer aber genau das mal bei einem Bourbon probieren möchte, ist hier genau richtig.

    Trocken mit Karamell, Mandeln und Vanille. Kräftige Eiche.
    Abgang:
    Lang, trocken, wundervoll.
