Scottish smoky malt is used for Amrut Peated. This is mashed and distilled in small batches to achieve the most natural flavour possible. The whisky matures particularly well in tropical conditions 3,000 metres above sea level in Bangalore, the 'Garden of India'.

    Aroma: rauchig, kräuterig, Vanille ein wenig, kaum Frucht, gar nicht so weit weg von einem Scotch

    Geschmack: süß, komplex, rauchig, Gebäck; relativ leicht; ein paar Kräuter, wenig Frucht

    Abgang: Süße von Gebäck und deutlicher Rauch, leicht kräuterig; mittellang

    Kommentar: schöner rauchiger Inder - ja, anders als Scotch, aber näher dran als (z.B.) Paul John

    Kommentar: Punkte: 70. Schöner rauchiger Whisky, interessantes Wechselspiel von Schärfe, Rauch und Frucht. Ich habe vor kurzem den Amrut Fusion probiert der ähnlich war, mir aber noch etwas besser gefiel.

    Aroma: rauchig ("organischer Rauch", nicht kräftig, eher muffig-süß), Früchte (Aprikose, Pfirsich), malzig, süß

    Geschmack: süß-herber Rauch (nicht sehr kräftig, eher dezent umschließend), fruchtig, zitrisch, alkoholisch-kräftig, Gerstenzucker, Gewürze

    Abgang: süßlich, etwas Pfeffer, rauchig, fruchtig

    Kommentar: Ein interessanter Malt. Der Charakter ist aufgrund der für mich fruchtigen Komponente in Verbindung mit dem sehr individuellen Rauch abwechslungsreich. Preis-Leistung-Verhältnis ist befriedigend, für einen NAS-Whisky eigentlich zu teuer. Betrachtet man aber den bereits von anderen Bewertern angeführten logistischen Aufwand (Torf aus Schottland für die Verarbeitung sowie den generellen Transport der Flaschen nach Europa), dann relativiert sich der Preis. Fazit: 3,5 bis 4 Sterne. Ich runde hier auf 4 Sterne auf. Anmerkung: Bangalore bzw. Bengaluru liegt 3000 Fuß über dem Meeresspiegel, nicht 3000 Meter.
